Threshold effects in high-energy vortex state collisions

چکیده

Collisions of particles prepared in non--plane-wave states with a non-trivial phase structure, such as vortex carrying an adjustable orbital angular momentum (OAM), open novel opportunities atomic, nuclear, and high-energy physics unavailable for traditional scattering experiments. Recently, it was argued that photoinduced processes $\gamma d \to pn$ p \Delta^+$ initiated by photon should display remarkable threshold shift sizable cross section enhancement the impact parameter $b$ target hadron respect to axis goes zero. In this work, we theoretically explore whether effect exists within quantum-field-theoretic treatment process. We do not rely on semiclassical assumption pointlike, non-spreading particle and, instead, consider toy process heavy pair production collision two light Laguerre-Gaussian compact Gaussian wave packets, paying special attention behavior section. observe smearing due non-monochromaticity but confirm near-threshold enhancement. Instead find OAM-related dip at $b\to 0$ compared packet collision.

Non-extensive statistical effects in high-energy collisions

Following the basic prescriptions of the relativistic Tsallis’ non-extensive thermostatistics, we investigate from a phenomenological point of view the relevance of non-extensive statistical effects on relativistic heavy-ion collisions observable, such as rapidity spectra of net proton production, transverse momentum distributions and transverse momentum fluctuations. Moreover, we study the nuc...

Multipion Coherent Effects in High Energy Heavy-ion Collisions

Multipion production in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions is considered in the model of the pion radiation by classical current. Strong coherent effects of narrowing of pion longitudinal and transverse momenta distributions are predicted at the RHIC energy. The coherence enhances the large pseudorapidities producing the bump in the distribution. The growth of the average pion multiplicity ...

High Energy Nuclear Collisions

Highlights of the results from ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions at CERN-SPS are reviewed. In particular, I discuss how the experimental results indicate that a collective strongly interacting system has been produced, and what are the implications towards the Quark Gluon Plasma. The physical ideas behind measuring certain observables are introduced. The future program of high energy nucle...

Nuclear like effects in proton-proton collisions at high energy

We show that several effects considered nuclear effects are not nuclear in the sense that they do not only occur in nucleus-nucleus and hadron-nucleus collisions but, as well, they are present in hadron-hadron (proton-proton) collisions. The matter creation mechanism in hh, hA and AA collision is always the same. The pT suppression of particles produced in large multiplicity events compared to ...

Channel-coupling effects in high-energy hadron collisions.

The Two-Gluon Model of the Pomeron predicts strongly size-dependent highenergy hadron cross sections. Yet experimental cross sections for radially excited mesons appear surprisingly close in value. The strong coupling of these mesons in hadron collisions also predicted by the model permits a qualitative understanding of this puzzling behavior in terms of eigenmode propagation with a common eige...
